THE_DOCTOR_CAN_SEE_YOU_NOW (2022-2024)

WARN:

This project contains images and descriptions of blood, needles, medical devices, and nudity.

To care for my type 1 diabetes I use an automated insulin delivery (AID) system. This involves the use of a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) that communicates with an insulin pump. The insulin pump uses this blood sugar data (and some other info) to make automated decisions for dosing me with insulin.

These AID systems require converting my blood into data in order to predict future blood sugars, to be used as feedback to regulate my blood sugar. The sensors, pump, and software all make errors and have issues. The blood sugar data and other metrics like A1c's, do not fully capture what is going on with me. I go to lots of doctors and in these spaces further data is collected. The medical system sees patients through data. As with my AID system, this misses something.

THE_DOCTOR_CAN_SEE_YOU_NOW is a set of lidar scans done on my phone while visiting doctors offices. I developed techniques (that I did during scanning) to produce errors in the captures to create inaccurate versions of myself.

The project consists of 9 scans of. There are 3 kinds of scans me:

1. distorted as a 3d model in a space
2. at the moment something is being collected
3. distributed over the model of a room

Materials and Tools:
iPhone, Polycam

Below are the 9 scans. You can select a model from the list. The display is interactive (controls description below). Have a look around!
