BLOOD_SUGAR_DOES_NOT_EXIST (2026)

blood sugar does not exist is a printed zine. A digital download is also available at the following link: download link

Blood sugar is a technology. It is constructed, a mapping, an incomplete model. What are the consequences of living with cybernetic technologies that rely on abstractions, codified in data? Who is prioritized by understanding diabetes through data? How does this trick, turning blood into data, happen? Who is in charge here?

At the heart of this piece is my personal experience with diabetes and the biotechnologies that aim to turn me into an engineer's vision of a cyborg. It is a refusal to privilege what the sensor declares over my sense of my bodymind. This isn't just about diabetes and blood sugar. The numbers aren't real.
